About Me

Welcome to my blog. My name is Evan Mintzer and I have been working in the technology industry for over 20 years. I started working with computers way back in 3rd grade playing with the Basic programming language on Commodore Pet computers. I played with numerous computers and programming languages throughout school. After college, I tried computer sales and found that I loved the technology but not the selling part, which does not work out so well when that is your job. I took some classes about Novell’s NetWare and started working in NetWare administration. When NetWare started dying, I moved over to Microsoft administration and then on to Cisco networking, which really piqued my interest. Over the years, I have amassed a bit of knowledge in networking working with both Ethernet and Token Ring networks. My last role (before my current) was Infrastructure Architect in which I designed how networks should look and then put my designs to the test by installing networks at my company.

A few years ago, I changed over to IT Security. I enjoy working with networks but security is even better. Having that networking background has helped me – for instance, the background helps with analyzing problems in a system to determine where it actually came from. So, now I am doing IT security with an emphasis on infrastructure and systems.

What is in my blog?

This blog will be mainly about security practices, services, and products but I will go on a tangent sometimes. I am using this as a way to share my experiences and knowledge. This is my own personal creation, representing my own views, opinions, and experiences. It has nothing to do with the company I work for nor any companies in my past or future.

Feel free to reach out to me about anything. I will help if I can but I am not writing this to do more tech support.
